GWEN STACY ANNOUNCES NEW SONG!
Solid State Records

Gwen Stacy will premiere a new track (The First Words) from their forthcoming album A Dialogue on their myspace page this Friday.  The album will be released on October 20th on new home Solid State Records (Underoath, Norma Jean).  Speaking on the record which was produced by Andreas Magnusson (Haste The Day, Black Dahlia Murder), drummer TJ Sego said “This record is a lot more of everything we were doing before but at the time, we didn’t have the time, knowledge, experience, or tools to accomplish this record.  We studied a lot of musical theory and every song on the album has some form of musical theory in it.  We didn’t just sit at a guitar and bang out some riffs, everything has purpose.  This is the album we always wanted to do.  This time around to us, we did it right.”

The band's previous album The Life I Know (2008) was released on Ferret Music and debuted on the Billboard "Heatseekers" Chart.  The album was hailed by media touchstones like Absolute punk.net who claimed "if you need something to kick your current music rotation in the ass, then The Life I Know is what you want to check out."

The band has toured nationally numerous times including stints with The Devil Wears Prada, Unearth, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Poison The Well, Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, 36 Crazy Fists and Haste The Day. A national headlining tour around the album release will be announced shortly.  www.myspace.com/gwenstacy

THE DESTRO IS DESTROYING!
Ironclad Recordings

The Destro announced their sophomore full-length Harmony Of Discord will be released on Oct 13th.  The band possess the aggression and directness or hardcore but it’s not metalcore, they have the thick sludge toned riffage and big bottom groove of metal while tossing off any flashy leads or instrumental obliqueness that have dominated that genre of late.  “On writing this new album we threw away multiple riffs going on in songs, we cut out any soloing and it’s twice as heavy as our other material and totally focused” says guitarist Nick Emde.  “As a guitarist I’m influenced by Napalm Death as they are completely fast, completely brutal with no filler but it leaves you satisfied.”

Speaking on the new material Emde said ”  The new songs exorcise a lot of demons for the band. “Inbetween albums we just had a lot of trying experiences including deaths of family members, deterioration of personal relationships and general homelessness.  Those negative emotions and experiences went straight to our writing to the point where I can honestly say playing these new songs completely release all those feelings for me” Emde reveals.

Signed by Trevor Phipps of Unearth for his Ironclad Recordings, the band released their debut As The Coil Unwinds in 2007.  The album received praise from the metal elite including national publications such as Outburn who said “The band harkens back in time when renegades like Metallica wrote grand masterpieces of metal compositions… pure metal sans the trends and flashy gimmickry.”  The usually reserved Decibel Magazine whole heartily concurred saying “The Destro nailed it pretty spectacularly from the percussive drum production and groove-heavy song tempos to the raw-throated vocals and squealy drop-tuned guitar riffs.”  Following release was a never ending series of live shows and tours

The band has just confirmed a U.S. Tour with Arsonists Get All The Girls and It Dies Today from Sept 10th through October 19th.  Dates and info at: www.myspace.com/thedestro

A DIFFERENT BREED OF KILLER CREATE A WALL OF SOUND

Knoxville TN-A Different Breed Of Killer have announced they are preparing their second full-length to be titled The City.  The album will be produced by the band’s drummer Nija Walker, who has been a student of recording technologies for 8 years, and worked directly under world-renowned mastering engineer Seva at SoundCurrent Mastering in Knoxville, TN. The album will
also be mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Through The Eyes Of The Dead) at The Basement Recording NC in Winston-Salem, NC.  Also unique to this recording is plans to record, mix and master the entire album in
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound
.
The band stated “to our knowledge this is the first time this process has been applied to a death metal record.”

While the band’s first release I, Colossus (2008) was a concept album about a man made monster on a rampage, The City will also have a story more global in scale dealing with a city in post world war 3 North America.  The band also commented on changes in the music by stating “the material on this album is more derivative of our older death/prog metal influences, like Cannibal Corpse and Cynic. Expect more bass and drum work, as the rhythm section of ADBOK has gotten a lot tighter over the past year due to immense
training. The vocals from new member Klint Monroe will be more mature and developed than our previous release. Also, new guitarist Jared Bivens brings a polished, heavy riffing style that "I, Colossus" lacked.  We're all maturing and learning constantly. Having entered the music industry at ages 17-20, we feel that we're this next effort will produce a more refined sound that is much closer to our original ideas at the time of the band's inception.”

The band has also announced that they have left Rise Records and are in the process of securing a new label for The City.  I, Colossus received national coverage in magazines such as Outburn and Metal Edge.  The band proceeded to complete multiple national tours with such artists as Carnifex, With Blood Comes Cleansing, Impending Doom, Whitechapel and Through The Eyes Of The Dead.   Expect more news shortly and more info can be found at http://www.myspace.com/adifferentbreedofkiller

DEATH BY STEREO BUMP UP ALBUM RELEASE
Serjical Strike Records

Serjical Strike Records have announced Death Is My Only Friend the upcoming full length by Death By Stereo will be released on July 7th.  This  will be a week sooner than the original release date announced.  According to  the label, whose President is Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) the record will  have a new national distributor in ADA and it was more beneficial to everyone  to move the release date up a week.

The band is currently on a national tour with Strung Out and press coverage is confirmed for Outburn, Revolver, Alt Press and more.  Death Is My Only Friend  is the band's first album in four years.  This work finds Death by Stereo¹s sound venturing into uncharted musical waters.   "We cover all ends of the musical spectrum with this album." Guitarist Dan Palmer explains, "There are songs with blast beats and songs with no guitars at all."  Diverse and melodic this is the band that Decibel said wrote "hardcore songs you could
actually remember" and Outburn praised for "biting down on personal emotions and social issues through some heavy and dramatic music." More info and music can be found at www.myspace.com/deathbystereo

10 FOR $10 HARDCORE TOUR ANNOUNCED!
10 For $10 Hardcore Tour

HEADLINED BY POISON THE WELL, MADBALL, VISION OF DISORDER & BANE
APPEARANCES BY TERROR, CRIME IN STEREO, VISION, WAR OF AGES, DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR, TRAPPED UNDER ICE, THE GHOST INSIDE, THE MONGOLOIDS, THIS IS HELL, AND MORE

IndieMerchStore.com is bringing back the hardcore matinee!  Amid economy woes, rising show costs and the dilution of hardcore packages, they will present the 10 For $10 summer tour.  Ten quality bands for ten dollars, headlined by Poison The Well, who will be performing on every date, and on separate legs of the tour headline spots from MadballBane and Vision Of Disorder.  Also appearing will be established bands with rabid followings such as TerrorDeath Before DishonorWar Of AgesCrime In StereoTrapped Under IceThe MongoloidsThe Ghost InsideThis Is Hell and Vision.  Speaking on the creation of the tour booking guru Tim Borror of The Agency Group said, “This tour is important because hardcore music is a lifestyle and has been an inspiration to the people who get involved and know what the movement and music is all about.   In the last few years the crowds have been a bit smaller than what they should be and we hope an idea like this where kids are getting an opportunity to check out a lot of bands for cheap will inspire some new kids to come out, get involved and become a part of this scene to help it grow.”

Echoing the sentiment Freddy Cricien of Madball said, “This 10 for 10 tour concept is way overdue in my opinion. I'm glad and thankful, that the people involved, stepped up to actually make something like this happen!  Our genre (Hardcore) in the states, is in a "strange" place right now. There is somewhat of a lack of appreciation for this "sub-culture". A lot of people want to say they know certain bands, or are affiliated with this underground scene,etc,etc... Because it gives them some credibility, it sounds cool! Well, this is everyones chance to re-introduce themselves, and actually get involved with a very unique and authentic genre/movement. It's also a chance for all of us, the bands, to show our stuff as well!”

Poison The Well's guitarist, Ryan Primack, says, "This tour is really exciting to us as it shows some massive diversity that occurs in the hardcore scene. I think it’s really amazing that Tim put this group of bands together. Some of bands on this tour have really shaped the good things that are happening in hardcore right now. Without some of the bands on this tour I doubt we would even be a band. Were honored and privileged to be sharing the stage with them."  Poison The Well's new album, The Tropic Rot, will be released via Ferret Music July 7th.

10 for $10 has been made possible by these companies: Facedown RecordsCentury Media RecordsPitchfork HardwearBridge Nine RecordsPeta2Black N Blue Productions, Hollywood Music TV, Ferret MusicThe Agency Group, and all the bands taking the stage!

VEIL OF MAYA MEMBER CHANGE
Sumerian Records

VEIL OF MAYA is gearing up for their co-headline tour (THE CRUSH EM' ALL TOUR) with AFTER THE BURIAL, ABACABB and FELL SILENT.  If you haven't yet, be sure to check out all the dates on the bands Myspace pages to make sure you do not miss this amazing line up performing in your town!

The band also has some important news for you all…  VOM's original bass player, Kris "The Higler", has decided to part ways with the band.  Kris decided to part ways to pursue other things going on in his life. There are no hard feelings between them what so ever as the band wishes him all the best to whatever he pursues next in life.

So who takes his place you ask….?  Ex- BORN OF OSIRIS Guitar player and long time best friend… Matthew Pantelis takes the position as the new full time bass player in the band.  Here's what Matt has to say about joining VEIL OF MAYA…  "As far as any of you are concerned... I used to be in a band with (Vocalist) Brandon for some time that used to jam along side with Veil around Chicago. So when I found out that Kris split, I was enthralled to help out my buddies!  Bass is sick and being with good friends of mine all the time is even more amazing. But the best part is making the change up permanent.  Upon all that being said, the next album released by us will mask you.  Come say hi at THE CRUSH EM ALL TOUR, and Marc, Sam, Brandon and I will teach everyone how to say Veil of Maya!"
