Ferret Music artist, Lower Definition has announced that their debut full length, The Greatest of All Lost Arts will be streamed in its entirety on Hurley.com today. Drummer Tino Arteaga commented, “When we first got the news, we were totally shocked and appreciative. Hurley has been working very close with bands and we're excited to be teaming up with them on this. I feel like this can help bridge us to a new demographic to the whole sports culture. We all grew up skating, surfing, boarding, biking, and all those different things. Hurley seems to reach out to the whole sports genre.”
The band is currently out on tour in support of their new album on the Party Star Tour, also featuring Secret and Whisper, Four Letter Lie, A Static Lullaby, and Dance Gavin Dance. Commenting on the tour Arteaga said, “It's been amazing! Fans are really receiving the new material well. The greatest part for us is that we're keeping it real and doing what we've always done, so to get this response from our music means a lot to us.”
The San Diego based band has been hard at work since 2002, playing with everyone from Glassjaw and The Deftones to Angels and Airwaves and taking part of festivals like The Taste of Chaos, Warped Tour, and Saints and Sinners. The Devil Wears Prada have announced their signing to Ferret Music today. The band shared the good news from the stage while playing their first set on Warped Tour in Pomona, CA. The band will appear on Warped Tour for the rest of the summer. Speaking on the signing Jeremy DePoyster (guitar/vocals) of the band said “It’s the best situation we could ask for. Ferret is run like an independent label where you know everyone there and work with them but they have the resources of a major label. We’ve also become really good friends with Carl (Severson of Ferret) and everyone there really believes in what we are doing. It helps when the people you work with and who work for you are just as stoked on your music as you are.” Carl Severson of Ferret echoed the sentiment by saying “The band and I met over a year a ago and just clicked. It was the right vibe, reminiscent of the kinship I've felt with some of the long time ferret artists.”

John Joseph has been a touchstone of the American punk, hardcore and metal movements for over twenty five years now. His groundbreaking work with the Cro-Mags Age Of Quarrel is perhaps the earliest and most respected examples of crossing the sonic weight of metal with a loose, destructive punk/hardcore edge. While the music was imposing, the lyrics were unusually spiritual imbued with eastern philosophies and a world weary view. Hard to believe these experienced words were composed from a man barely out of his teens, but in his newly printed auto-biography The Evolution Of A Cro-Magnon, you learn that by his teens, Joseph had survived more hardship and adversity than anyone should have to.
Joseph had offers from an array of notable publishing companies but decided to release it with his own publishing imprint PunkHouse co-owned by Todd Irwin whose history to the scene stretches back to playing drums with Murphy’s Law and producing albums by groups like Into Another. Currently, the book is on sale exclusive through www.PunkHouse.org with a retail launch into national chains planned for later this year. Joseph’s new band Bloodclot (featuring members of Cro-Mags, Biohazard, Merauder and Pro-Pain) released their debut album Burn Babylon Burn last week and will be part of the annual Superbowl Of Hardcore event happening this April 5th in NY.
Some quotes on the book:
“As I read the first few chapters, tears welled up in my eyes. A lot of people talk about coming from the streets, when Bloodclot says it, shit is real.” Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys)
"John has the rare ability to give a truly authentic glimpse into the evolution of the American hardcore scene, and the forces that shaped it, and put it in the context of a much larger story of the human spirit that the scene attracted.” Patty Jenkins (writer / director "Monster")
“John is a survivor; he has lived it and his words are a testament to the code of the streets. He's a living legend and a righteous and real cat.” Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed/MTV)
Alesana have announced the release of their second album Where Myth Fades To Legend on June 3, 2008. They’ve also have been endeared to the live touring circuit where they have completed over 370 shows in support of On Frail Wings… with the likes of Chiodos, Silverstein and The Devil Wears Prada. In preperation of this album, Alesana will hit the road with The Chariot, SkyEatsAirplane, Lovehatehero, and Our Last Night. This tour will run from April 2nd to May 18th.
